Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how FridgeFuel ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the FridgeFuel mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to keeping your data minimal, secure, and used only for purposes you would reasonably expect.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (or, if you use Sign in with Apple, an Apple-relayed email)
• A unique account identifier
• Authentication tokens

We use Supabase as our authentication and database provider. Your account information is stored on Supabase infrastructure.

1.2 In-App Preferences and Activity

We collect data you enter into the App, such as:

• Dietary preferences, restrictions, and goals
• Saved and rated recipes
• Meal plans and food logs
• Macro and calorie tracking entries

This information is stored in your account so the App can personalize your experience and sync across devices.

1.3 Apple HealthKit Data

If you grant permission, FridgeFuel reads the following data from Apple HealthKit:

• Heart rate variability (HRV)
• Sleep stages, including deep sleep duration
• Resting heart rate
• Active energy burned

This data is used solely to inform personalized recipe recommendations within the App ("Biometric-to-Plate" personalization). HealthKit data is processed in accordance with Apple's HealthKit policies.

You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.

1.4 Subscription Information

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to validate subscription receipts and track entitlement status. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier and the receipt data necessary to verify your subscription. We do not receive your Apple ID, payment method, or billing address.

1.5 Recipe Generation

To generate personalized recipes, we send the following information to Anthropic's Claude API:

• Your dietary preferences and goals (as you've entered them)
• Recent biometric summaries from HealthKit (when permission is granted), expressed as general signals rather than raw timestamped data
• Recipe context such as desired cuisine, ingredients, or meal type

This data is sent through our backend so the API can return a tailored recipe. We do not send your name, email, or precise location to Anthropic. Anthropic processes this data per its API privacy terms and does not retain it for model training.

1.6 Diagnostic Information

The App may collect basic diagnostic data such as crash logs and error reports to help us identify and fix bugs. This data is anonymous and does not contain HealthKit data or recipe content.

2. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not use third-party advertising networks.
• We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not collect precise location data.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Operate the App, including authentication, syncing, and subscription management
• Generate personalized recipes and meal plans
• Communicate with you about your account, support requests, or material changes to our policies
• Improve the App through aggregated, non-identifying analysis of usage patterns
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing

We share information only with the service providers necessary to operate the App:

• Supabase — authentication and database storage
• RevenueCat — subscription validation
• Anthropic — AI recipe generation
• Apple — payment processing and Sign in with Apple

Each of these providers handles data under their own privacy and security commitments. We do not share your information with any other third parties except as required by law.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. You may request account deletion by emailing fridgefuelapp@gmail.com.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including TLS for data in transit and encrypted storage at our service providers. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.

7. Children

FridgeFuel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to withdraw consent for processing. To exercise these rights, email fridgefuelapp@gmail.com. California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information for direct-marketing purposes (we do not make such disclosures).

9. International Users

FridgeFuel is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be notified through the App or via the contact email associated with your account.
